Kanimecon Lawrence is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all. This policy applies to all individuals attending, participating in, or associated with Kanimecon Lawrence (e.g. attendees, vendors, artists, guests, entertainers, and sponsors) from all backgrounds and identities and in all venues, in person and online spaces.
Discrimination will not be tolerated. Inappropriate or exclusionary behavior whether verbal, physical, or visual, that is based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, marital status, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws will not be tolerated. We encourage the use of preferred pronouns and gender-neutral language where appropriate.
Zero Tolerance Policy Kanimecon Lawrence maintains a zero tolerance policy for harassment or discrimination of any kind, including but not limited to:
Sexual harassment Unwanted sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, inappropriate touching, sexual comments, jokes, or gestures, and any other behavior of a sexual nature that makes others uncomfortable.
Verbal harassment Inappropriate comments or slurs related to race, color, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other protected class under federal or Kansas state law.
Physical harassment Unwelcome physical contact or threats of physical harm, assault, purposely blocking someone’s movement, or otherwise physically intimidating behavior. Stalking: Repeated or unwelcome following, watching, or contacting someone in a manner that would make a reasonable person feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
Reporting Harassment All reports of harassment will be taken seriously. If you experience or witness any form of harassment, you are encouraged to report it immediately. Reports can be made in person at designated help or information desks, or electronically via email to [email address].
Please provide a clear description, (e.g. height, age, attire, hair color). We may need assistance identifying the offender. Anonymous reports will also be accepted but may limit our ability to take action. Every effort will be made to handle complaints discreetly and confidentially.
Kanimecon Lawrence staff or volunteers are happy to help you contact local law-enforcement if needed. We want all attendees and staff to feel safe.
Investigations will be conducted by authorized Kanimecon Lawrence representatives or a designated third party. We will not tolerate retaliation against individuals who report harassment or participate in an investigation.
Consequences of Violating the Policy Kanimecon Lawrence reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary to address harassment, including but not limited to:
● Verbal Warnings
● Immediate removal from the event without refund.
● Immediately removing or stopping any booth, games or activities, without a refund or reimbursement.
● Permanent banning from future Kanimecon Lawrence events.
● Reporting to local law enforcement and or legal action.
Attendees who are issued a warning must fix their conduct immediately; failure to do so will result in further actions.
Decisions made by Kanimecon Lawrence are final and not subject to appeal.
Consent and Personal Boundaries "Cosplay is Not Consent" Attendees must ask for permission before touching, photographing, or interacting with someone in costume. Simply wearing a costume does not imply consent for photographing, touching or any other behavior or action.
By attending Kanimecon Lawrence, you acknowledge and agree to this harassment policy. Failure to comply with the policy may result in disciplinary action, as outlined above.
