Summer Knights Online Charity Con

Summer Knights Online Code of Conduct

The following code of conduct has been created to ensure that all players, GMs, staff and organizers have an enjoyable event. Anyone attending, playing, GMing or volunteering at Summer Knights Online Charity Con (“Summer Knights”), as well as anyone who has joined the event’s Discord server, is required to follow these guidelines.

Respect Others

  1. Everyone should feel welcome at the table regardless of race, ethnicity, cultural identity, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, body size, appearance, religion (or non-religion), disability, socioeconomic status, etc.
  2. We do not tolerate bullying, verbal or physical attacks, and other forms of harassment. Harassment or unwelcome conduct, whether verbal, physical, visual, or in any other form, is strictly prohibited, regardless of where or when it occurs.
  3. Respect everyone’s physical and social boundaries and property.
  4. Ensure that you are maintaining a safe play environment appropriate to the group you are playing with.
  5. Ensure that your fun does not involve impeding other’s enjoyment.

Respect Online Venues (Discord, etc.)

  1. Keep posts on topic to the RPGs and other games being played at Summer Knights.
  2. Keep RPG-related personal advertising to a minimum. It’s great if you provide a service that our members may be interested in (ex: miniature painting), and it’s OK to advertise your services to the group, but please limit your advertising posts to once per week.
  3. The Summer Knights Discord server is limited to players who are age 13 and older (this is a Discord rule!).

Consequences

Summer Knights reserves the right to refuse to seat a player who has shown themselves to be hostile to others and/or disruptive to play. Players, attendees, DMs or staff who do not follow this code of conduct will be asked to leave their table, and/or may be removed from the event’s Discord server.

We will be implementing a “three strikes” rule to enforce the CoC. The first strike will result in a verbal or written warning. The second strike will result in a second warning, the third strike will result in a ban from play and being blocked from Discord and related events.

All violations of the code of conduct will result in at least one strike. A violation that targets another player will automatically count as two strikes. Any violation that is egregious or malicious, as determined by the Summer Knights coordinators, will result in three strikes.

Anonymous Feedback Form

We will use the linked anonymous feedback form to gather feedback for all games. Please use this link to access and complete the form after each game. The link will also be shared by GMs and posted in the #code-of-conduct channel in the Discord.

What to do if something is going wrong:

Anyone can report a behavior that violates this code of conduct. The identity of reporters will always be kept private, including from additional event staff if requested. If someone’s behavior is making you uncomfortable, or you witness the same happening to someone else, you can take any of the following steps.

Confidentiality Policy

Any reports to Summer Knights staff are taken seriously. Information about reports or issues will only be disclosed to decision making event staff. Information about reports will be limited to details that are necessary for decision making only. Upon request or in sensitive subjects, only one coordinator may be informed of any details. Violations of the Code of Conduct will be addressed with players who require intervention in a way that protects the identity of reporters. This policy covers all reports, whether they are anonymous or not, made by a witness, or made by a person who was harmed.

If you ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe, speak up, you are unlikely to be alone.
