Author Guest of Honor: Mur Lafferty

Mur Lafferty is an author.

Mur Lafferty is a podcaster.

She also writes about murders in space, zombies, Minecraft and Han Solo.

Her writing and podcasting have resulted in numerous award nominations and wins, such as the Best Fancast Hugo Award, the Astounding Award for Best New Writer, and was an inaugural inductee into the Podcast Academy Hall of Fame. Her books have received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, and Library Journal, and have been praised by Buzzfeed, CNET, NPR, among many others.


Science Guest of Honor: Dr. Philip Plait

Dr. Philip Plait is an astronomer, science communicator, author, and all-around science nerd. After getting his PhD using Hubble Space telescope data, he started a career debunking bad science and promoting good science, creating the website and blog Bad Astronomy, now a popular newsletter with 23,000 subscribers. He has written three books — Bad Astronomy, Death from the Skies!, and his most recent, Under Alien Skies — and currently writes a weekly astronomy column for Scientific American. He wrote and hosted “Crash Course Astronomy”, a video series with 85+ million views, and has been a scientific technical consultant for numerous TV shows and movies.


Gaming Guest of Honor: Eric Slauson

Eric Slauson is a game designer who specializes in making party games and social experiences. He has a passion for finding new ways to get people laughing, talking, and creating memories together. His contributions to the games industry also include his work as a freelance writer and editor.
