Code of Conduct

For the safety and enjoyment of all attendees and the general public at Savage Mill, Savage Geek Fest has established a code of conduct. Savage Geek Fest welcomes everyone, but reserves the right to deny or revoke the attendance of any individual at any time for any reason based on the rules below. Savage Geek Fest also reserves the right to amend these rules at any time without prior or posted notice. If you have any questions, please contact Savage Geek Fest staff for assistance.

Anyone who accepts a Savage Geek Fest badge agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Savage Geek Fest, Omnihedral, and Savage Mill from any claim for personal injuries or other damages or equity arising out of any individual's activities at the event, even if such injury or damage is caused baby negligence by or on the part of Savage Geek Fest.

The attendee Code of Conduct will be strictly enforced by Savage Geek Fest volunteers and staff who will be clearly identified. Your badges are the property of Savage Geek Fest during the duration of the convention and must be presented and/or surrendered to Savage Geek Fest staff in requested. If you experience any issues with a staff member or take issue with any action by a staff member, please contact events@omnihedral.com. Accessing Savage Geek Fest with a badge that does not belong to you will result in you being banned from future events. Any disciplinary action and/or damages that occur while utilizing another individual's badge will be attributed to the original owner as well.

All applicable local, state, and federal laws must be obeyed while attending Savage Geek Fest.

Public Decorum

Savage Geek Fest creates an atmosphere that is comfortable for all geeks of all ages and backgrounds, and attendees are expected to act accordingly. Savage Mill will also be open to the public during Savage Geek Fest and will include the presence of families and minors. Any events inappropriate for minors will be noted in the event information.

Attendance by Minors

Savage Geek Fest strives to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for attendees of all ages. Savage Geek Fest does not take responsibility for the actions of individual attendees or assume responsibility for minors*. Minors may not attempt to attend any events intended for mature audiences unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

A parent or guardian must accompany any and all children ages 12 and under at all times

*Minor: A person under 18 years of age who has not been legally emancipated from his or her parents.

Personal Property

Savage Geek Fest reserve the right to inspect all items coming into and out of Savage Geek Fest convention areas, and reserves the right to remove any suspicious items to preserve the safety of others.

Bags are allowed at Savage Geek Fest but are subject to inspection at the discretion of staff. Bag inspections will be a quick search for dangerous items such as weapons. They will not be searching for food or drinks.

Wheeled vehicles, carts, props, shoes & skates are not permitted at Savage Mill. The only exception is for wheelchairs and other ADA compliant mobility devices.

The use of drones and RC aircraft are not permitted at Savage Mill.

Weapons Policy

Cosplay props are welcome at the event. Sharp corners, metal rods, or other elements that may be dangerous will not be allowed. Please review our dress code when planning outfits or cosplay.

No real weapons, or any items that could be easily mistaken for weapons, may be carried openly or concealed at Savage Mill, regardless of any concealed carry permits. If a prop weapon is held or used in a threatening way, it will be considered a weapon. On such an occasion, Savage Geek Fest staff may take reasonable measures to ensure the safety of attendees, which may include remanding the attendee immediately to the custody of local police.

Prop weapons must be limited to less than 6' in height and less than 50lbs in weight. Any chain must be less than 3' in length regardless of material.

All edged or other non-permitted weapons purchased at a vendor must remain in the original packaging while on the Savage Mill grounds. Attendees may be required to provide a photo ID upon purchasing these items.

Personal Conduct

There is no smoking or vaping in Savage Mill. Smoking is allowed outside of Savage Mill in designated spaces.

Please remember that you are a guest at Savage Mill, and that Savage Mill will still be open to the general public during Savage Geek Fest. We expect everyone to cooperate fully with Savage Geek Fest staff and any local security or law enforcement personnel. Fighting, inappropriate horseplay, or actions that may disturb or disrupt Savage Geek Fest and Savage Mill functions may result in your badge being revoked.

If you are utilizing a third-party service (such as Discord) to access Savage Geek Fest content, you must abide by the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines of that service. If you violate a third-party service's guidelines, Savage Geek Fest may remove you from that online space temporarily or permanently at its discretion.

Harassment

Savage Geek Fest is committed to providing a safe and harassment-free festival experience for everyone. This covers all characteristics including, but not limited to a person's:

Anyone from any lifestyle is welcome at Savage Geek Fest, as long as they do not act in a way that hinders the experience of other attendees. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. Examples include but are not limited to:

At Savage Geek Fest, "no" means "no," regardless of whether an individual is in cosplay. If a person asks you to leave them alone, do so. If you continue to provide unwelcome attention to an attendee, you may have your badge revoked without refund, be removed from Savage Geek Fest, and banned from future events.

If any of the above items occur, please report the event to a member of the Savage Geek Fest staff as soon as possible. If you witness harassment occurring, please encourage the victim to report the event to Savage Geek Fest staff.

All of the above applies to attendees, Savage Geek Fest staff, volunteers, guests, panelists, Savage Mill vendors, and the general public at Savage Mill. Any and all information relating to a victim's claim of harassment will be treated as confidential unless otherwise required by law.

Savage Geek Fest is not responsible for mediating interpersonal problems between attendees outside of the convention, and will take no action to prevent an individual from attending unless that person has made a credible threat towards Savage Geek Fest or Savage Mill.

Nearby Hotels

Savage Geek Fest accepts no liability for actions of any kind taken by individual in the confines of private hotel rooms in the Savage, MD area and beyond. Responsibility for incidents in hotel rooms rests solely upon the individual who rented the room. This includes payment for any and all damage.

Substance Abuse

The sale or distribution of any illegal or controlled substances is prohibited at Savage Geek Fest. Any individual found distributing such substances will be removed and reported to the Howard County Police Department. Alcoholic beverages purchased at Dive Bar & Grill should only be consumed within the restaurant. A anyone knowingly or unknowingly providing alcohol or aiding others in providing alcohol to anyone under the age of 21 will be turned over to Howard County Police Department. No alcohol may be consumed in Savage Geek Fest event rooms.

Video Recordings, Audio Recordings, and Photography Attendees creating any recordings of Savage Geek Fest events and program items retain full copyright rights to the recordings but not to the content. Savage Geek Fest grants you a Creative Commons share-alike non-commercial attribution license to any recordings you make at or of Savage Geek Fest. Uses beyond this license require permission from Savage Geek Fest. You agree to grant Savage Geek Fest a non-exclusive, sub-licensable, irrevocable, perpetual, and universal license to use, distribute, perform and/or incorporate your video in other works in any form, media, or technology, including for-profit use. For any other terms of use or licensing please see Creative Commons by-nc-sa 3.0.

Savage Geek Fest attendees may be photographed or otherwise recorded by other attendees. By accepting a Savage Geek Fest badge, you are consenting to having your image published and inherently grant Savage Geek Fest permission to use images or footage for archival or promotional purposes. If you prefer to not have your picture taken, please inform Savage Geek Fest staff. If anyone continues to photograph or record you against your will, it will be treated as harassment.

Savage Geek Fest permits attendees to share photographs of their festival experience on personal web pages, while video and audio recordings are subject to the above provisions.

Payments to Savage Geek Fest

Savage Geek Fest accepts credit card payments through our online system. We will attempt to resolve any credit card disputes following the tenets of good faith and fair dealing. Charge-backs that are made solely for the purpose of avoiding payment, made without sufficient cause, or made without attempting to resolve the dispute with Savage Geek Fest may result in the individual's badge being revoked, possible legal action, and the individual being banned from future Savage Geek Fest events. Attendees with an outstanding balance due to Savage Geek Fest must settle the balance before attending the convention. Should Savage Geek Fest need to process a refund, it must be processed on the same card as the original purchase. Savage Geek Fest does not accept checks of any kind and will not be involved in financial disputes between attendees. Savage Geek Fest cannot provide information about individual attendees to any part other than banking officials or legal authorities.

Attendee Waiver

By receiving your badge, you agree to release Savage Geek Fest and all staff of Savage Mill and Omnihedral (collectively "Savage Geek Fest") from all liability relating to injuries that may occur during the course of Savage Geek Fest and you agree to hold Savage Geek Fest entirely free from any liability, including financial responsibility for any injuries incurred, regardless of whether injuries are caused by negligence.

You acknowledge the risks involved in attending a convention, including potentially strenuous or dangerous physical activities, flashing lights, and loud music. You affirm that you are participating voluntarily, and that all risks have been made clear to you. You affirm that you do not have any conditions that will increase your likelihood of experiencing injuries while participating in Savage Geek Fest. You agree to make every effort to obey safety precautions as listed in writing and as explained verbally, and will ask for clarification when needed.

By picking up/receiving your badge, you forfeit all right to bring a suit against Savage Geek Fest for any reason. In return, you will be able to participate in all Savage Geek Fest activities, and be granted access to the amenities of the host venue, Savage Mill.
