Painting Contest

Bring your best painted single model. Your model must fit on a 2 inch (50mm) base or smaller.

A display case will be provided for all contest entries and they will be kept behind glass. You can enter your model as early as 9:00 AM on Saturday, Oct. 19. All entries must be in by 8:00 PM. The winner will be announced at 9:00 PM.

Judges

A panel of judges will be selected at the event who will judge based on the criteria below. Judges are not allowed to participate.

Judging Criteria

Prep: Is the figure cleaned, flash removed, rough spots filed, and gaps filled?

Smooth Paint: Are there brush marks or gloppy bits? Is the color even and not splotchy?

Neat Work: Does the model have clean edges between colors? Is each piece of the model clearly separated from the others?

Use of Color: Is the color appropriate for the model? Does it make good use of contrast? Does the model pop?

Shading: Does the model have shadows, and highlights? Are transitions smooth?

Detail Work: Are the eyes painted? Are tiny details like belt buckles picked out?

Extras: Does the artist make use of freehand? Are there added details to the base? Is there object source lighting? etc.

Prize

Winner will receive a trophy and bragging rights for a year! In addition to this Army Painter has donated a Master Brush Set, a Hobby Tool Set, and a set of Washes that will go to the top 3 placing models! 1st place gets 1st pick, 2nd place gets 2nd pick, and 3rd place gets the last item.
