The Con OFF the Cob Auction is an online biddable marketplace for games, books, toys, collectibles, art, handmade stuff, and anything weird, unusual, geeky, or awesome. Have some old board games you want to unload? Make it happen. Does your fur suit need a new body to live on? This is the place. Star Trek: The Next Generation VHS tapes want a new home? Make it so...
HOW TO SUBMIT ITEMS FOR AUCTION
Here is the extremely easy and remarkably pleasurable process:
As soon as you create your channel, the item auction will go live and people can begin bidding immediately. The auction will end at the appointed time during the con.
HOW TO BID ON ITEMS
Bidding is very easy. All you have to do is post a comment with your bid. For example, $20.
Then the next person posts a bid, which must be at least one dollar higher than the previous bid. Say, $30.
Someone else bids higher.
It goes on like this until the auction's end time.
A few minutes before the auction ends the auction host will join the chat and alert bidders to the auction's impending closure. Whoever has the highest bid when the auction host closes the auction wins the item.
If several people are bidding in the room the auction host might jump into auctioneer mode and call for specific bids (Do I hear five hundred?) until nobody raises the bid, at which time a winner will be declared based on the highest bid and the auction will close.
Note: Bids do NOT include the price of delivery. The seller and buyer will arrange for that once the auction ends.
HOW AUCTIONS END AND WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Whoever has the highest bid at the end time wins. The auction host will mark the auction CLOSED.
The seller will contact the bidder to arrange payment and delivery.
The seller mails the item to the buyer.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
While it is supremely uncool, illegal, and will result in a ban from all Oddmall/Con on the Cob/Con OFF the Con shows, Con OFF the Cob cannot guarantee that the seller will actually mail the item to the bidder. We also can't provide help if this happens, but we recommend reaching out to the payment provider for help in this event.
Holding the auction successfully is solely up to the auction host. Staff Members will assist only with general or technical help, but will not help with the actual auction.
