CATAN United States Championship Qualifier for 2023 Finals
*** Important Note ***
To be a qualifier, we will need a minimum of 16 participants, if less then 16 participants sign up, we will be playing for fun and prizes only. In the past, we have easily exceeded this minimum.
Tournament is $10 and you will need to buy a badge to CinCityCon for this event (we offer a Fri./Sun badge option as well as a weekend one).
What is a Catan Qualifier?
The winner of each Catan National Qualifier will have special Catan-themed prizes and a guaranteed spot at the Catan National Championship. At the National Championship, all Qualifier winners will face off against each other to become the year’s Catan National Champion. Every two years, the National Champions are sent to the Catan World Championship tournament to represent their country.
Note: You must be 18+ years of age and a Citizen or Legal Resident of your respective countries* to compete in any Catan National Championship event, even at the store/convention level.
If you have already won a Qualifier for a season, you may not play in any other Qualifiers in that season. If you have already won a Qualifier in the season, and play in another Qualifier in the same season, you will be banned from the Catan Tournament program.
How Does A Catan National Championship Qualifier Work?
The CinCityCon Qualifier will be held in a single day and will compose of the preliminaries and the Final.
The preliminaries are a series of three separate games of Catan. The scores of each game will be combined and determine if you move on to the Finals.
In the Finals, you play a single game of Catan, and if you are the winner of that final game you are guaranteed a spot at the Catan National Championship.

How Does The Score Work In The Preliminaries?
You scores points in the preliminaries based on your performance in each game you play. Scores come from the total of three games. Each win determines rank. Ties between players with the same number of wins in the preliminaries is determined by the cumulative points from the three games that the tied players participated in. If need be, the rank between tied players with the same cumulative points is determined by how soundly players have beaten their opponents. What Happens When I Win The Qualifier?
We’ll send your name/email when they report the results to Catan. They will then reach out with all the information you need to know and what to expect at the Catan National Championship.
Important Note: We host the Catan Qualifier and can not guarantee what will happen from there. Catan Studios is responsible once we submit the winner's name to them.
Details:
CinCityCon will supply some additional prizes to the top four finalist at this event. A weekend or Fri/Sun badge are also required to participate in this event.

Winners of the 2022-2024 season Qualifier Tournaments are not allowed to play in additional Qualifier events leading up to the next World Championship without first relinquishing the qualified seat.
From the Catan site: Every two years we send our National Champions to the CATAN World Championship tournament. The 2023 United States Champion will compete in the 2024 World Championship, location and date TBD. The United States champion will also compete in the Americas tournament, a new event taking place in the off-years from the World Championship. We will share details for the 2023 Americas Tournament as soon as possible.
