EVENT GUIDELINES
Models, Painting, and Basing
● Models: Models should be fully assembled, painted, based, and have all equipment represented, AKA “What You See Is What You Get”, (WYSIWYG). Any armies that require terrain features are encouraged to use the Games Workshop models for accuracy, but custom features are allowed. Any custom features will require organizer approval prior to the event. Models that do not meet these standards will be removed and a scoring penalty may occur.
● Painting: Models must be painted to at least a Battle Ready Standard. This means fully assembled with three distinct colors, colored and textured base, in a cohesive scheme.
● Basing: Models should be on the correct round or oval base. If in doubt, refer to the community basing standards or the description provided on Games Workshop Website. If still in doubt, email blacknightx19@yahoo.com.
● Proxies: While GW creates great looking models, other companies and hobbyist sculpts are allowed. If you are bringing an alternative model or unit that does not come from GW, please reach out to Blacknightx19@yahoo.com and provide pictures of any such models for approval.
Game Details 1. Pairings: Players will be drawn up randomly for the 1st round. Subsequent Rounds will use the Swiss pairing system via Best Coast Pairings. Please let the TO know if you are paired against the same opponent twice.
Attacker & Defender: We will not be using the GHB 2023 for determining Attacker and Defender. Instead, players will roll off with the winner choosing to be the Attacker or Defender. The Defender will decide their territory. The Attacker will get the other Territory and will deploy their army first.
Grand Strategies & Battle Tactics: Grand Strategies and Battle Tactics from GHB 2023, Battletomes, and White Dwarf updates allowed
Game Timing: Each game will last 3 hours (3 hours and 15 minutes for the Club GT). Please be aware of time as we are running on a tight schedule. Do not start a new battle round if you are not able to complete it. If players are found to be going over time and making other players wait, penalties may be applied to your Overall Score.
Player Tabled: In the event that a player is tabled, the player who is not tabled will continue to score points and Battle Tactics as normal.
Battleplans: General’s Handbook 2023
Dice: Dice must only have symbols on the 6 sides.
Terrain: Terrain will be set up by the TOs and should not be changed without permission. If you find the terrain has been moved around, please alert a TO.
a. Defensible: This terrain keyword uses the Defensible Terrain (17.1.2) and Garrisons (17.2) rules from the Core Rules, with the exception of: regardless of distance, models garrisoning a defensible terrain are never considered to be contesting an Objective.
b. Impassible: You cannot move over this terrain feature unless the model can fly. You cannot set up a model on this terrain feature, even if it can fly.
c. Obscuring: Visibility between 2 models is blocked if a 1mm wide straight line between the closest points of the 2 models passes over an Obscuring terrain feature. Models with a wound characteristic of 10 or more are not blocked by an Obscuring terrain feature.
d. Mysterious Terrain: Mysterious Terrain will be in use.
Team Tournament Pairing Rules ● Team matches will be random first round and then W vs W, L vs L, D vs D
● The 2nd through fourth round pairings will be done strongest Team Total vs the next strongest Team Total.
● After the second round of the event, we will not guarantee or adjust pairings in a manner that teams from the same game clubs will not be paired against each other.
● Teams will pair off into 4 individual games every round
Individual Pairing will take place as detailed below:
● Captains have 15 minutes before each game to discuss with their team what the best strategy is for the round and to work out the pairings for the round.
● Rounds that start later than the allotted 15-minute mark should be reported immediately to the judges.
● Both teams select an army and place it face down on the table. When both teams have selected their armies, they are then revealed simultaneously. The teams then select two armies each to counter the revealed army of the opposing team, and place them face down on the table. They are then revealed simultaneously. Out of the two armies placed by their opponents, each team selects one to play against the army that was placed initially. For the second set of pairings, the unselected army remaining on the table will automatically play against the other selected army on the table. The final pairing will be the army left over from each team from selections.
Game Scoring ● Score differential will be used for this event.
● Grand Strategy completion will yield 3 Victory Points.
● Score Differential Battle Points

24-26 19-1

● Team points for every pairing will be summed for both sides and the team with more points will be declared the winner.
● Point Cap: One team can get between 20-60 TPs in one round. Individual scores are added up and entered on the team score card. A team that received more than 60 TP in a given round receives only 60 TP. A team that won less than 20 TP receives 20 TP, at minimum. This prevents teams who get easier opponents to massacre them, and skyrocket to the top, while weaker teams still have a chance to fight for mid-table.
Ties: In the event of a tie in the final standings, the following statistics in order will be used to break the tie.
Number of individual player Game wins on a team
Total individual player points from a team
Margin of Victory
