Jay Cormier, Board Game Designer & Founder of Off the Page Games |
---|
We are pleased and excited to welcome Jay Cormier of Off the Page Games to TokenCon 2023. We had originally scheduled Jay for our canceled 2020 convention and are overjoyed to have him join us for real this time! |
Jay Cormier is a man of many hats (and he doesn't even wear hats) |
Hat 1: Game Designer. Jay has designed games like MIND MGMT: The Psychic Espionage "Game", Belfort, Akrotiri, Junk Art and Scooby Doo: Escape from the Haunted Mansion -- all designed with Sen-Foong Lim. He also designed In the Hall of the Mountain King with Graeme Jahns and Draw Your Own Conclusions by himself! |
Hat 2: Fail Faster creator. Jay created the Fail Faster Playtesting Journal (which funded to over 500% on Kickstarter last year). The journal guides game designers on the notes they need to take in order to become a better playtester and ultimately, a better designer. |
Hat 3: Jay is a board game publisher. Jay started up the publishing company, Off the Page Games. His first successful game, MIND MGMT: The Psychic Espionage "Game" earned over $1 million on Kickstarter and has made over a dozen top 10 lists for the best game of 2021. His latest game, Harrow County: The Game of Gothic Conflict, will be coming to Kickstarter very soon. The Off The Page brand focuses on making games based off of creator-owned comic books. |
Hat 4: Board game instructor. Jay has taught game theory and game design at the Vancouver Film School for over 7 years. The class is part of their video game design program, and they learn all about how game design works from a board game perspective. |
Hat 5: Corporate game creator. Jay has created escape rooms and puzzle boxes for various corporate training companies across Canada. |
Hat 6 and definitely not last: Jay is the father of 5-year old twin boys! |
So in summation: Jay is busy! But it's all fun and exciting. |
