Texicon has a number of ways you can volunteer. We are a convention run by volunteers. No body has ever been paid to attend Texicon.
You can help volunteer at Texicon in one of four fashions:
As a volunteer gamemaster we ask that you be able to game master at least twelve hours for non-historical games. You are asked to be at the table and setting up around 30 minutes before your event (15 minutes for board games and roleplaying events).
*Historical miniatures games because of the time planning and preperation of custom terrain, are only required to run eight hours with at least on Saturday game).
General volunteers are asked to help in a variety of manners. It can be security, helping with registration, helping GM's move gear in and out of the facility, or help with removal of entities of a non terrestrial origin.
What do I need to do to host an event?
All you need to do is register for the convention as a GM and check out with a Weekend GM badge. You can then submit events by clicking the "Host" and then "Submit Events". You must have a GM badge and be logged in to submit an event.
Submitted games go to the appropriate staff head who authorizes or edits submitted events.
How do I host an tournament?
In order to run a tournament we request that you submit a formal request to us so we can sort out the basics for the tournaments. Tournaments have to be authorized by staff before they are posted and authorized. For any questions please email Karl Pajak at karlpajak@gmail.com .
Why do I need a badge? In order to be a volunteer you must purchase a badge (at no cost) and check out. (With our current platform that's the workflow.) For GM's they must submit the required number of event hours in order to qualify for the badge at the day of the convention. You can submit events all at once or at your leisure. Your magnate will contact you if you have not registered for the required number of hours. If you wish to be a general volunteer purchase that badge (at no cost) and our volunteer magnate will contact you for scheduling.
Please come and hang out and most of all have fun. The most important part of being a volunteer is having fun. If you have any concerns or question please let us know. If you are not having fun or run into a problem please contact a staff member for help. We want to make Texicon a fun and enjoyable weekend.
