Entertainment specifically tailored to young gamers ages 8 to 14.

The Kids Track is a setting where kids can game with other children. It features games and systems that appeal to a younger audience and are simple to learn and play. Players are encouraged to work cooperatively with each other and share their creativity.

At SCARAB, we not only delight in sharing our hobby with the next generation, but we believe that gaming can teach children important skills, from reading and math to social skills, cooperation, and problem solving.

The Kids Track is NOT a babysitting service, or a substitute for appropriate adult supervision. We are not responsible for supervising child attendees.

The SCARAB staff views the safety of our young guests as a top priority. Kids Track events will be located in the back of Salon A in the Medallion Center. Parents can check up on their children as much as they need to.

• SCARAB child attendees under the age of 12 are required to have a parent or guardian's contact information written on their badges so they can be reached in an emergency.

• A parent or guardian must be on site at the Medallion Center at all times.

• We ask that our Kids Track players be responsible and considerate, and if any child is behaving unsafely or preventing other players from enjoying Kids Track programming, their parent or guardian may be asked to remove them from the Kids Track space.

This years selection is: Mark of the Thief By Jennifer A. Nielsen

When Nic, a slave in the mines outside of Rome, is forced to enter a sealed cavern containing the lost treasures of Julius Caesar, he finds much more than gold and gemstones: He discovers an ancient bulla, an amulet that belonged to the great Caesar and is filled with a magic once reserved for the Gods — magic some Romans would kill for.

Now, with the deadly power of the bulla pulsing through his veins, Nic is determined to become free. But instead, he finds himself at the center of a ruthless conspiracy to overthrow the emperor and spark the Praetor War, a battle to destroy Rome from within. Traitors and spies lurk at every turn, each more desperate than the next to use Nic’s newfound powers for their own dark purposes.

In a quest to stop the rebellion, save Rome, and secure his own freedom, Nic must harness the magic within himself and defeat the empire’s most powerful and savage leaders.

SCARAB is always on the lookout for volunteers to run games for our Kids Track! All types of games are welcome! RPGs, board/card games, miniatures or other events.

We especially want to encourage our younger players to run games for their peers. The SCARAB staff is happy to give any kid GM any support they need.

We ask that all Kids Track GMs:

• Be prepared to teach the rules of the game to players.
• Provide pre-generated characters or use a system that uses quick and simple character creation.
• Game run within a two hours time slot.
• All games should be child-appropriate. No inappropriate language, adult content, and violence kept to a minimum, with no graphic descriptions. (IE cartoonish or stylized combat like on a children's TV show.)

If you would like to host a game for the Kids track fill out the submission form at the top of the page under Host.

If you are under the age of 14 please email the Kids Track Coordinator Lizz Schulz at lizschulz @ s-c-a-r-a-b.com before submitting your event through TableTop.Events.

Be prepared to include:

• Event Type: Please Select Kids Track from the drop down. This insures the correct department gets your submission

• Event Name: The name of the Game Event Submission. This is what is visible to anyone signing up for the game.

• Short Description: 300 Character Limit. There is an option to fill out a longer description that will only be visible online.

• More info URL: Your website or the official website of the game system.

• Preferred Start: The only acceptable start times are 8am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm. If you select any other time your submission will be returned.

• Alternate Start: See above

• Duration: Kids Track games are ONLY 2 hour duration. If any other duration is selected your submission will be returned.

• Max Tickets: Max number of players at the table, does not include the GM. The default max is 4 due to social distancing regulations.

• Age Range: Select Kids Only (14 and under). If any other range is selected your submission will be returned.

• Game System: The name of the game system.

All game event submissions are subject to approval.
