Game Fest brings together all kinds of individuals from all walks of life. It gives people the chance to play some favorite games or events while branching out to try or learn something new. It's an event that you can enjoy with the entire family or that you can attend alone. Either way, you always leave having made new friends, great memories, and possibly some pretty cool door prizes.

Is there anything in particular you are excited for in this year's Fest?

I’m excited to be back at the HGI. It feels like home for GameFest and we aren’t dealing with huge crowds of people there for another event.

Creating spaces for shared passions is one of the best things you can do for a community. However, NEA Game Fest is not just a share space for passionate gamers, it’s also a charity event making impacts that last long past the convention end date. I’m so proud of this community we’ve fostered at NEA Game Fest.

Tach Butler He/Him

How long have you been a coordinator for NEA Game Fest?

This is year 1.

What type(s) of gaming are you interested in? Favorite titles in particular?

I am interested in all sorts of games, but I lean more toward RPGs, Trading Card Games/Collectable Card Games, and Deckbuilders. My Favorite Games are Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Monoploy. But, as I continue to play more games, Monopoly is losing its 30-year lead as top board game.

What is one thing you've learned during your work with other coordinators?

I hope this makes sense, but the one thing I learned from the other coordinators is how to be a gamer. I am always amazed by the gaming knowledge and stories that they share. Had it not been for my interactions with them, I would have given up on trying to find a group of gamers - especially before I moved to Jonesboro. I also would have given up on my small business, because there did not seem to be an interest for board games and cards.

What is your favorite thing about Game Fest?

The absolute variety of games you can play and the people you can meet playing them. It was not until I started to go to Game Fest that I realized the absolute variety of board games. Before Game Fest, I mostly knew about classic games like Monopoly; since attending, I have been exposed to some truly remarkable games from Rococo to SETI to Blood on the Clocktower.

In your own words, can you describe the impact this event has made to the community?

I hate to sound cliché here, but the impact Game Fest has had on the community has been to provide a place where people who have an interest in gaming, a place to game judgement free. It is a place that is a break from the usual activities that people might get into. Also, I think it is also a great way for exposing people to the different games that exists in the world and exposing people to a space where the only thing that matters is playing the game in front of everyone.

Is there anything in particular you are excited for in this year's Fest?

I am excited to just be a part of Game Fest. As coordinator, I hope to be able to make it a fun experience for attendees; and it would be a plus if there is a way to get something that can help new and casual players of Trading Card Game enjoy playing in a slightly relaxed environment.
