Midwinter Gaming Convention 2022

Top things you need to know before you arrive at Midwinter Gaming Convention

  1. Buy your Badge(s) in advance: Reservations are not required and badges will be sold at Convention Registration every day of the show based on availability, but save yourself some time and Register beforehand. You’ll be able to pick up your badges at Convention Registration on the 5th Floor in the Exhibit Hall. Convention Registration will open at 8am on Thursday, January 13th and run until Sunday, January 16th at 2pm.

  2. Plan ahead: Make sure you snag a seat at the events you want by registering ahead of time. Event Registration will open November 1st for VIP Badgeholders, and November 15th for all badge types (12 Noon CST for both).

  3. Get ready to join a game! You can sign up ahead of time (see #2) and secure your seat, or see what’s available while you’re at the show. Our website will give up to the minute information on how many seats are available at each game, but you can also look for the “Players Wanted” signs on tables that are looking for more people. See a game you really want to play but it’s full? Stop by the table before the event is set to begin. Sometimes space will open up if players don’t show, and sometimes a GM will be able to accommodate. It’s worth a try, but always be prepared to find another event if you’re not able to be seated.

  4. Where are the games located? Why aren't there any events in the Empire Ballroom this year? All games will be located on the 4th and 5th Floors of the Hilton. We moved out of the Empire (large room up the stairs from the Lobby) due to accessibility concerns. Midwinter wants to make sure there is a seat for everyone at our tables and this change will allow all guests easy access and mobility throughout the space.

  5. Need cash? There is an ATM located on the Lobby Level of the Hilton, near the escalators.

  6. Grab a selfie with our official backdrop near Convention Registration, then share to social.

  7. Where are the video games? Midwinter is an “analog” gaming convention, focusing on in-person, face to face events. Video games are not a part of our scheduled events for the weekend.

  8. What kind of food is available? The Hilton will offer concessions on the 5th Floor outside the Exhibit Hall at posted times. Need food delivered to your table? We’ve got you covered. Each room will have a supply of banquet menus available for delivery. Additional food options include the Miller Time Pub, Hilton Cafe, Starbucks, and the Milwaukee Chop House. Please note, outside food and beverages are not permitted in any convention meeting space. Any food or beverage purchased within the Hilton is permitted.

  9. What about Open Gaming? We have tables available throughout the event space for Open Gaming, and dedicated tables in the Regency Ballroom on the 5th Floor for Open Gaming and Play to Win. The Regency will close at Midnight each night (which means games need to be finished and cleaned up by that time), to allow for cleaning of the room. There is still Open Gaming available in the Crystal Foyer just outside of the Exhibit Hall for overnight hours.
