Ethics and Conduct

Lakes Area Game Fest is dedicated to providing an enjoyable convention experience for everyone. This is a family-friendly event, and we do not tolerate displays of inappropriate behavior or harassment in any form. Convention participants violating the policies outlined below may be sanctioned or expelled from the convention, without a refund, at the discretion of the convention organizers.

Each of the following constitutes grounds for expulsion from the event:

General disregard for event policy and other code of conduct violations reduce the value of our event for everyone. Therefore, if you witness inappropriate behavior—or if someone makes you or anyone else feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or unwelcome—please report it as soon as possible.

You can make a report to any event organizer or volunteer and our team will take the appropriate action. If you are unable to locate any event personnel, please report the incident to the Arrowwood front desk or any venue staff member. If necessary, we will be happy to help you contact hotel/venue security, local law enforcement, or otherwise assist you to feel safe for the duration of the event.

We do not tolerate harassment of any kind, including but not limited to:

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Event organizers retain the right to take any action deemed necessary to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes expulsion from the convention with no refund.

Costumes and Weapons

Costumes and/or costume accessories are not encouraged at the event. No weapons of any kind, whether real or imitation, are allowed at the event.

Food and Alcohol

No outside food or drinks are allowed within the event space. A special bag lunch and late-night snack will be prepared for convention guests and will be made available for purchase from the Arrowwood front desk. There is also a restaurant/bar on the premises and a variety of other restaurants and fast food options within walking distance or a brief drive from the venue.

No alcohol is allowed at the event. Any guest who appears to be intoxicated or who causes a disturbance as a result of intoxication will be removed from the venue by event staff/security with no refund.

Open Gaming

Open Gaming is highly encouraged, but you are ultimately responsible for any games, accessories, or other items you bring into the venue. We are not liable if any of your personal property becomes misplaced, lost, stolen, damaged, or otherwise compromised.

Convention organizers will provide a library of 200+ games which registered guests are free to check out for use within the convention space only. Your badge will be required to check out library games. Any checked-out item which is not returned (checked back in) or which becomes lost, stolen, damaged, or otherwise compromised, will be the responsibility of the individual who checked out the item. Please treat the convention library as if it were your own! These titles are personally owned by your fellow gamers, so your care and mindfulness are appreciated.

Lost & Found

The registration table located at the entrance of the event space will serve as a Lost & Found center. Any items not claimed from Lost & Found by the end of the event will be collected by event staff. Please keep track of your items and label them if at all possible.

The purchase of a Lakes Area Game Fest badge admits one person to all basic activities at the Lakes Area Game Fest during the regularly scheduled hours on the date(s) for which it is purchased.

The badge holder releases Lakes Area Game Fest event staff and volunteers from any liability for loss or damage to persons or property, infringement of any right, or any other claim or course of action of any kind.

Lakes Area Game Fest event staff reserves the right to deny entry or remove from the event venue any person who in the event staff’s sole and absolute discretion is behaving or threatening to behave in a manner which event staff reasonably considers to be disruptive to the event.
