Golden Pig Award Miniature Painting Competition Event Overview: Cincinnati Arsenal Gaming invites all miniature painting enthusiasts to showcase their artistry in the Golden Pig Award competition, hosted during Cincycon 15. Inspired by Cincinnati's famous pig statues and Cincycon’s playful pig theme, this competition celebrates creativity, craftsmanship, and community. Miniatures from any miniature range are allowed including legal 3d Printed models. $10 Fee (Free if participating in CAGBASHXVIII) Categories 1. Single Miniature o Scope: A single figure no larger than a 50mm base. Ideal for heroes, commanders, or stand-alone models. Includes standard cavalry, bikes and small vehicles. o Judging Criteria:  Technical Execution: Smooth blends, edge highlighting, precision in details.  Creativity & Composition: Unique approach to color schemes and basing.  Presentation: Clean, cohesive finish that draws attention.  Theme: Alignment with the character's story or narrative. 2. Units o Scope: A group of 3-10 miniatures from a single squad or cohesive group. o Judging Criteria:  Cohesion: Uniformity of color and style across the unit.  Technical Execution: Smooth blends, edge highlighting, precision in details while displaying a consistent quality on each figure.  Base Work: Integration of scenic elements that tie the unit together.  Creativity: Innovative techniques, unique themes, or other elements combining existing concepts in new ways. 3. Monsters & Vehicles o Scope: Large models such as tanks, mechs, dragons, daemons, or other iconic centerpieces. o Judging Criteria:  Technical Execution: Smooth blends, edge highlighting, precision, and attention to detail in large surfaces and textures.  Weathering & Effects: Realism in battle damage, rust, or magical effects.  Composition: Visual balance and focus points.  Narrative: Conveyance of the model's story through its design. 4. Large Dioramas (Armies on Parade) o Scope: Large scenic displays featuring a cohesive theme or story, such as an army in a battle setting. o Requirements:  Display Board - Size minimum 1’ x 1’ , size max 2’ x 2’  Contains at least - 2 units and 1 command(er) o Judging Criteria:  Storytelling: Narrative conveyed through the display.  Cohesion: Consistency of colors, styles, and themes across the diorama and models therein.  Technical Execution: Smooth blends, edge highlighting, precision in details across multiple models and scenery.  Innovation: Creative use of space, scenery, or special effects. Scoring Guidelines 1. Gold Scoring Scale o Models scoring 90-100 points out of 100. o Demonstrates exceptional mastery in all judging criteria. Flawless execution with innovative elements. 2. Silver Scoring Scale o Models scoring 75-89 points. o Strong craftsmanship with minor imperfections. High-quality work with excellent attention to detail. 3. Bronze Scoring Scale o Models scoring 60-74 points. o Displays solid skills and effort but with room for improvement in certain areas. Overall Winner • Title: "The Platinum Pig" • Prize: Custom-designed trophy featuring a Platinum pig. The Platinum Hog winner will be chosen from the Gold-winning entries from each category, and evaluated based on overall impact, innovation, and execution. This competition invites hobbyists of all levels to celebrate their talent and connect with fellow enthusiasts. Showcase your creativity and aim for the coveted Platinum Hog title!
