As we continuously review past conventions, we are always adapting and trying to improve. Today's news update will focus on some changes that have been made for BGG.CON 2024. There is A LOT of information here, so please take some time to read this carefully and if you have any questions, please email events@boardgamegeek.com.
As of October 31, we have sold 100% of badges for BGG.CON 2024. So just a few reminders about badge purchases to share with your friends who delayed getting badges:
We will NOT sell badges on site. (A reminder that badges are non-shareable, everyone needs their own personal badge.)
Individual plans may change, so it may be possible to get a badge by checking the convention site regularly so see if someone has refunded their badge.
We have sent the current badge list to the printer, so from this point on any Badge changes/updates need to be emailed to events@boardgamegeek.com, so we can make quick adjustments on-site.
Badges may be refunded through November 12, 2024. Instructions regarding refunds can be found HERE.
As announced a couple days ago - BGG.CON 2024 is a Certified Sensory Aware event!
Please review this information on our Accessibility page and if you have questions before, during or after the convention, please feel free to email events@boardgamegeek.com or find a Team Geek volunteer (gray/white jersey) or BGG Events Staff (orange jersey).
The Sanctuary can be found on the Atrium Level in the Reverchon Room. This is a tranquil space for attendees who need a break from the crowds and sensory environment of the con. With soft lighting and comfortable seating, this is a place where you can get away, regroup, and recharge. Stay as long as you need, but please remember that space is limited and this is a resource for all attendees who need it.
The BGG Library is updating the open hours to reflect a new closing time of midnight each night. The new schedule is below:
| Days | Open Hours |
|---|---|
| Wednesday | 9am - Midnight |
| Thursday-Saturday | 8am - Midnight |
| Sunday | 8am - 1PM |
Continuing from last year, the Hyatt Regency Dallas front desk staff have agreed to assist us with monitoring a Library Game Overnight DropOff. If you finish a game after the library has closed, please bring the game to the designated rack near the hotel front desk. BGG Librarians will arrange to pick up the rack the following morning and check your games in for you.
Many of you are already viewing the BGG Library Collection to see what new games have been added. And you have found that your original search options have not worked. Please view this post in the BGG.CON Forums regarding the change in search terms.
We have made available a .csv file for you to view on your own and run appropriate filters to assist with your game learning and planning.
BGG Library CSV File - Note this file is NOT finalized, but it will be updated just prior to the convention. (And even this will not be the final collection list as new games are added during the convention.)
The Hot Games Room is moving to the area across from the BGG Library in the Cumberland Ballroom. You can see this on the map shown below and linked HERE.

The new location also necessitates a change in Hot Games Hours. See below the hours to match the BGG Library Hours
| Days | Open Hours |
|---|---|
| Wednesday | 9am - Midnight |
| Thursday-Saturday | 8am - Midnight |
| Sunday | 8am - 1PM |
The list of Games that will be put in this room will be finalized the weekend before BGG.CON, but if you want to get started on reviewing rules, you can check out the current status of the Hot Games Poll on BGG.
We have dedicated Open Gaming Areas throughout the hotel convention space. You can view these spaces on the convention map and the list of specific rooms is listed below:
And as per usual, if a table or room is marked on the map as "Scheduled Games" there will either be a sign outside the door or individual table schedules on each table showing when that room/table is reserved. The tables are available for open gaming when not reserved by these printed schedules. Just be mindful of the schedule and complete your game before the next scheduled event arrives.
We have planned for lots of open gaming, but we do recognize that sometimes it can take some scouting to find where those open tables may be located. For the last few years, we have tasked our Team Geek volunteers to do table counts on a regular basis and report on any open tables. We are now making that report available live on-site.
While at the convention, look for the signs posted throughout the convention space that will have a QR Code link to the current view of Open Tables. The image below is a sample of what this page might look like when you arrive:

Personal Belongings Left on Tables
As you are playing games, we ask that your personal belongings be placed underneath your gaming table as opposed to the aisleways and neighboring tables. This allows for emergency exit access and maximizes open gaming tables available for attendees.
If, as Team Geek is counting open tables, it is determined that personal belongings have been unattended on a table or in the aisles for extraordinary amounts of time, the belongings will be taken to the Registration Desk and a note from BGG Events Staff will be put on the table where the belongings were left.
Thank you for your understanding and help in keeping as many tables as possible open and available for gaming.
Many of you have already made travel plans and may be arriving on Tuesday before badges are made available for pickup on Wednesday. To appease your itch to play games early, we have set aside Pre-CON gaming space in Reunion ABCD beginning at noon while the staff and volunteers finish setting up the other convention spaces.
And for those of you with late flights on Sunday, Post-CON gaming space is available in Landmark AB.
PLEASE NOTE - The Hyatt is hosting another group beginning Sunday that will be using some of the meeting spaces, therefore our group must be out of all other convention spaces by 3:00PM to allow for their setup. Reunion ABCD will be unavailable to us after midnight Saturday night and will be in use by the other group all day Sunday. Please be considerate and avoid disruptions in this area.
Stay Tuned for further Travel/Parking Information in a future News Update
We know some of you are good with word descriptions of where things are at BGG.CON, but most of us need those visual descriptions (i.e. maps).

Event Filters and "Liked" Events
When viewing the Event Schedule you can select any number of filters and column views to help you see a subset of events for which you might choose to get tickets (i.e. seats at the table). A reminder to complete the checkout process to finalize your seat selection at an event.
A new filter selection added by the Tabletop.Events system is the "Liked" Events. Click the checkmark in line with an event you are interested in, want to watch, etc.

As you add tickets (seats at the table) to your schedule, you can view your schedule in a timeline format here. You can even view your Tabletop.Events Friends' schedules to compare and coordinate.
Every convention has its policies and BGG.CON is no different. BGG Events Policies encompass policies due to how we run this convention, policies we are subject to because we are clients of the Hyatt Regency Dallas, a general Code of Conduct which includes reporting guidelines, and general Health and Safety Policies. We ask you to review these policies before you arrive.
