We are really glad you are attending a BGG event and are excited to play games with you. Just a quick reminder of the rules and consequences for playing games at BGG.CON. (If you want to read the fine print click HERE).
Be Kind and Respectful - Speak kindly and positively about others. Do not insult others or put them down, even in joking. Avoid gossip of any kind and avoid speaking in anger. No cursing, swearing or using ugly words or gestures. No bullying. Do not tell jokes or stories about someone behind their back.
Be Prepared - Read the rules ahead of time and be on time.
Look Good - If you can wear it to school or out in public, then you can probably wear it at BGG.CON. ALSO, you MUST have your badge and wristband visible at all times. They are required for library checkout and for security of our events.
Age-limit 13+ - Children under 13 years of age (including infants) are not welcome in the meeting spaces of BGG.CON, though they are certainly welcome at BGG.Spring in May.
Play from start to finish - BE ON TIME or a little bit early to your game and use good manners all the way through.

Pretty simple, right? So what happens if there is a problem?
If you are having a problem, contact a Team Geek member (in the light gray jerseys) or a BGG Events staff member (orange jersey) or e-mail a BGG Events Admin events@boardgamegeek.com.
If someone in your game has a problem with something you are doing, and they ask you to stop, you must stop it. If you choose not to stop it, and Team Geek and/or BGG Events Staff are notified, then the BGG Events Staff will talk with you (and potentially parents/guardians if you are under 18) and you may be removed from the convention and not able to play anymore.

Below are the Harassment Guidelines, the Code of Conduct and rules for Reporting Unacceptable Behavior. Please read and familiarize yourself with them before joining the BGG Events community. Failure to adhere to the guidelines will result in consequences for unacceptable behavior.
Code of Conduct is specified later on this page. The Code of Conduct applies to all policies supporting BGG events.
BGG Events are friendly and fun places where the community and BGG staff can interact. Our community is always growing, and we've come up with a few ground rules to consider when attending.
To assist with the safety and security of BGG Events, we require that badges and wristbands be visible at all times.
There are all kinds of gamers attending BGG Events. Using derogatory labels for other gamers can be hurtful and isolate others who enjoy different styles of play. Disagreements are bound to happen. If you find yourself in a debate, focus on challenging the idea, rather than the others in the conversation. Remember that there's another person on the other side of the table. Please help us keep it fun!
BGG Events are friendly to all gamers, and teenagers from age 13 to 18 will be playing games too! When scheduling/hosting a game, please be sure to indicate the age range for your game. And when choosing to participate in a game/event, please be respectful of the age range specified.
Do not abuse, defame, harass, threaten, intimidate or stalk others while attending any BGG Event. Community members should feel welcome while they're attending.
Making comments solely to provoke a strong negative reaction or conflict do not contribute to the inviting place we'd like our community to be.
While certain language may not be offensive to you, please consider that some words and phrases may have a completely different effect on someone else.
Comments that contain content endorsing hatred or violence on the basis of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexuality, or for any other reason are not welcome at BGG Events.
Claiming to be other community members in order to obtain admittance to BGG Events is considered harassment and fraud. When this is discovered, the attendee will be required to remove themselves from BGG Events and risk permanent ban from future events.
Spam can include placing advertisements/flyers that have not been pre-approved by BGG Events Staff. This is not allowed.
Do not advocate or disclose intent to commit illegal activities while attending BGG Events. This includes (but is not limited to) activities that encourage fraud, piracy, or violence.
Violating any of these guidelines may result in an attendee's removal, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the BGG Events community.

We believe that games are for everyone. We are committed to fostering a fun, inclusive, and safe environment for all attendees, volunteers, publishers, speakers, media representatives, partner companies, and staff (collectively, "gamers"), free from discrimination for any reason, including age, body size, disability, gender expression, gender identity, nationality, physical appearance, race, religious beliefs or background, sexual orientation, or other differences.
This code of conduct outlines our expectations for gamers' behavior and consequences for unacceptable behavior. We invite all gamers to help us ensure that events hosted by BGG Events are a safe and positive experience for everyone.

We reserve the right to deny badge purchases for anyone we deem to have engaged in unacceptable behavior, whether that be at a BGG event or any other board game industry event or simply when made aware of such behavior in any circumstances. We will refund and cancel such badge purchases if made aware after purchase but before the event begins.
If you do not share our goal of making board gaming a fun and safe space for all gamers, you are not welcome at BGG events.
We reserve the right to eject, without refund, from our contracted meeting spaces anyone who has engaged in unacceptable behavior at a BGG event.
If you are subject to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subject to unacceptable behavior, or have concerns that this Code of Conduct or the Harassment Guidelines are not being followed, notify Team Geek Volunteers or a BGG Events Staff member or e-mail any of the following as soon as possible:

Do not engage the offender.
BGG Events Staff will take the necessary steps to assist participants in feeling safe, including imposing consequences for unacceptable behavior and making sure that participants feel safe during the convention. We will record a report of any incidents. Incident reports will remain confidential with the exception of criminal matters, which we will report to law enforcement. However, we will take into account any concerns you may have about involving law enforcement.
In some cases, unacceptable behavior may stop if you clearly say "No" or "Please leave me alone," or simply leave the situation. In these cases, we would appreciate it if BGG Events Staff are still informed to help us identify any repeat offenders.
