Author Spotlight #1: Rachel Ventura

Rachel Ventura is the Business Director for Legendary Games. She has been a freelance writer for AAW Games, Battlefield Press, Jon Brazer Enterprises, Mistfit Studios, Playground Adventures, and Total Party Kill Games. Previously she was the Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Frog God Games. Rachel also serves on the board for RPG Creators Relief Fund, a nonprofit charity for game designers in need. In 2015, she was a Guest of Honor Industry Insider for Gen Con.

Rachel started gaming at the age of 6 when her older brother needed a rogue elf to play in his dungeon. Although her experience at that point mostly involved her searching for shinies her gaming style did evolve from table-top to LARPing to card games. Now a mother of twins, strategy and boardgames are much more her style. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics where she worked as an actuary for a few years before moving into marketing. She is a woman of many talents anywhere from training wolves for movies, serving in political office, or teaching scrapbooking at Gen Con for SPA events.

Rachel will be sharing her love for creating quality games at the D8 Summit this year. She will again bring her event "Can You Survive a Legendary Dungeon?" where you compete to see how long you can survive, for the chance to win swag. She is bringing a new card game, Fates of Madness, for attendees to learn and enjoy. Finally, she is running a game for children, Feast of Flavor, which was Ennie-nominated in 2018.

You might also see Rachel in her amazing cosplays, easily a highlight of 2018! hint hint

Author Spotlight - Claire Hoffman

For the second year in a row, Claire has volunteered to share her strong author cred and stories with attendees at the D8 Summit Charity Convention.

Claire Hoffman, along with numerous dragons, a few cats and an indulgent husband, resides in a home atop of a very small hill in Ohio. She had the privilege of shepherding the Living Death Campaign for ten years. After a brief hiatus from campaign management she assisted the LFR campaign first as a Co-Writing Director (Waterdeep) and then as a Global Admin. Claire now serves as the Associate Resource Manager for the Adventurers League Campaign.

This year, all people who have gotten a VIG Badge will enjoy one of her Author Only Adventurer's League adventures, set in the beautiful land of Mulhorand (think a fantasy version of Ancient Egypt). In addition, Claire is running two games for those with Weekend Badges and AL-legal characters between levels 11 and 16, so you will want to snatch up a ticket right away. A link to her offerings is right here.
