What is the "Heroes & Villains Contest"?

This contest is essentially a "Fund-A-Need" event where attendees and the general public will be able to vote (with their donations, whether in USD or Linden Dollars) for their favorite hero and villain (of course, they could vote for as many characters as they want!)

Maybe you didn't participate in a game and donate for a re-roll. Maybe you didn't see anything at the Exhibitions that you felt was worth spending your money on. The contest gives everyone a fun way to still donate to charity while voting for their favorite heroes and villains. For many, this gives more value and purpose than simply donating on its own.

Here are the Heroes and Villain in the running to be the best of the best.

HEROES

1 Samus Aran, from Metroid

2 Mario, from Super Mario Bros.

3 Geralt, from The Witcher

4 Sonic, from Sonic the Hedgehog

5 Cloud, from Final Fantasy 7

6 Master Chief, from Halo

7 Kratos, from God of War

8 Sera, from Dragon Age Inquisition

9 Guybrush Threepwood, from Monkey Island

VILLAINS

1 GLaDOS, from Portal

2 Handsome Jack, from Borderlands 2

3 Sephiroth, from Final Fantasy 7

4 Kerrigan, from StarCraft

5 The Joker, from Batman: Arkham Knight

6 Flowey, from Undertale

7 Shao Kahn, from Mortal Kombat

8 Bloody Mary, from The Wolf Among Us

9 Bowser, from Super Mario Bros.

Voting (by donation) will officially open on Opening Day of the Event and last until a time TBA.

The contest opens right after the Opening Ceremonies and closes right before the Closing Ceremonies. Winners will be announced at the Closing Ceremonies.

You can participate online by visiting our auction website HERE! or just look for the "Wall of Heroes" and the "Wall of Villains" at the Convention in-world and donate directly with your Lindens. It all goes to the same place in the end, so choose the method of payment you prefer!

As an added incentive, the winning hero and villain from the contest will be written into a special one-shot tabletop RPG for Extra Life Game Day, which takes place on November 7th, 2020 at the Tabletop Hall.

How will the winner be determined? We are offering attendees the opportunity to pay in Linden Dollars (L$) or U.S. Dollars. The final results will include both currencies. We have a board in-world that will display the amount donated in SL, but this does NOT include the amount donated online in USD.

To that end, we've created a handy "go-to" spreadsheet which includes the Lindens and USD raised in total. It can be viewed here: Heroes & Villains Contest - Total Donations - Google Drive

Thank you in advance for your support, and may the best Hero and Villain win!
