In this special event the Dege crew will live stream a game of Clink with therapeutic principles in mind. Conrad will take on the role of game master while Nate and Tony operate sound, music, and the background for an immersive experience. What is Clink exactly? A beautifully simple tabletop RPG where you flip coins to determine the outcomes of challenges. Players take on the roles of "mysterious drifters" where you purposefully leave your character vague. You have your nickname, a trigger behavior (e.g. whenever someone asks me where I'm from I make up a new place), and a memento (a broken shotgun, a kid's macaroni picture, a dried rose). Throughout gameplay your character will experience "flashbacks" and "scars". Each of these mechanics has the drifter speak about a part of their past with one being positive and one being negative. A different player in the group must ask a meaningful question to further develop the story. The narrative created through these mechanics (e.g. my grandfather taught me chess, which is a flashback) becomes a permanent part of the drifter who is now skilled in chess and possibly other strategy. The drifters grow through discussion. Since the system is so flexible the setting could be anywhere, but we’ll be riding into a Spaghetti Western coupled with the wacky antics one can expect from Deges & Dragons. Want to try a new fun game? Branching into roleplaying games for the first time? Seeking a simple game to introduce to your therapy group? We have you covered! But Deges, I’m too apprehensive and just want to watch or the game is already full! Don’t you fret, this show will be a Zoom Webinar. Anyone can watch the show unfold and the chat will be open to collect your comments and questions along the way. At the end we’ll discuss the therapy principles we saw and how the game could be adapted for clinical work. Further questions can always be sent to us here - degetime@gmail.com
