Koregard has long been a dangerous land: wolves in the wilderness, dragons in the skies, and the barbarous goblin races ever swelling in numbers. Now a decade-long war has left the kingdom broken.
The players take the roles of a disparate selection of would-be adventurers, hired by Imperial Koregard to fight off dangers and show regular citizens that life is returning to normal. All too soon, however, dangerous secrets will be uncovered and these untried heroes will decide the fate of the empire.
The Deck of Many Dungeons is a tabletop RPG which forgoes hefty rulebooks and instead places everything on cards: skills, equipment, even enemies. As a result it is easy to learn and has an incredible flexibility for you to mix & match your race, class, and gear in any way you like. It has built-in support for random adventure generation and over multiple sessions you can still gain XP, learn new abilities, find magic items, and recruit allies.
Citizens from across Koregard have travelled to the capital to complain of missing family heirlooms. You are part of a newly-formed group with two directives: first, to keep dangerous creatures from the borders of civilization, and secondly, to be as visible and helpful as possible in order to show Koregard’s citizens that life is returning to normal after a decade-long war. One of those asking for help is a noblewoman from the Coastal Feifdoms, and so presents a unique diplomatic opportunity. Find the heirlooms, protect the noble, and show the people of Koregard that you're not afraid of anything - even if that anything seems to be leaving behind massive, invisible spiderwebs....
