Adirondacon #2: Let's go to the Mall!
Badges will be for sale at the door and you can sign up for games on the board when you arrive
This year our Adirondacon Tabletop Gaming Convention is taking over the Party Palace in Aviation Mall, in Queensbury, NY on September 15 & 16. It's a much larger space and more centrally located with plenty of parking!
There will be a plethora of board games, card games, role-playing games and more! We will have a full schedule of games that people can sign up to play, or if you'd like to borrow a game from our lending library, or bring your own to play, that's fine too!
Adirondacon is a convention to bring local tabletop game enthusiasts together and also an opportunity for us to raise money for our chosen charity, Extra Life to benefit the Bernard and Millie Duker Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center.
There will be vendors like Coopers Cave Games and Paintball, The Freakopolis Geekery, Quigley's Cakes, Dragon's Beard Dice, Jim Yager and more! We'll have door prizes, play-to-win games, and we will also be raffling off games and prizes to benefit Extra Life. Tickets for the raffles will be available during the con.
The European Union is set to enact legislation that will make copyright fair use illegal. It is so far reaching that even simple things like memes and tweets with quotes in them will be illegal. The Electronic Frontier Foundation, Google, Wikipedia, YouTube, and even the United Nations have condemned this legislation.
If this legislation passes it will force small businesses like Tabletop.Events to stop serving customers in the EU. Worse, if this sort of legislation passes it will likely influence laws in the United States, and could cause us to shut down entirely. To be clear, we do not violate copyright law, but this law would hold us accountable if someone uploads something to our site that violates copyright law. As a small business we simply do not have the resources to spend the $100,000,000+ needed to build a copyright filtering AI the way YouTube has, and even their AI is not perfect.
If you want to maintain a free and fair internet use the hashtag #SaveYourInternet and contact your local government officials telling them you do not want Article 13 to pass.
