I'm a local, Ypsilanti based crafter who specializes in Amigurumi Crochet. Amigurumi, the Japanese art of crocheting or knitting small stuffed yarn creatures, originated in Japan in the 1950s. The word amigurumi is a compound of the Japanese words ami, which means "weaving" or "knitting", and gurumi, which means "stuffed doll". Amigurumis are known for their soft touch and pleasant visual effect, and can represent various animals, fantastic creatures, everyday objects, or whimsical things like cacti, mushrooms, clouds, or rainbows. I look for patterns that are both fun for me to produce and offer challenges to my current skills, so stop by and see what can be done with a ball of yarn, a crochet hook and some imagination.
