More Weekend Badges Available Tuesday, September 1st

What started as a small local gathering has quickly become a weekend-long celebration of tabletop roleplaying games, and in 2026, we’re leveling up in a big way.

This year, The Ettin moves to a new home at the Holiday Inn Evanston, giving us the space we need to welcome more players, more games, and more community. We have deep affection for the American Legion, which helped make our first two years possible, and to honor that partnership, we will donate $5 from every registration to the Legion.

We’re also expanding the schedule. For the first time, The Ettin begins on Friday night, adding an extra evening of games, one-shots, and late-night tables to kick off the weekend.

And new for this year: creator and sponsor tables. Attendees can browse, meet, and support independent creators, publishers, artists, and designers who make this hobby what it is—whether that’s books, dice, art, minis, or something wonderfully unexpected.

As always, the heart of The Ettin is the games themselves. Expect a wide range of systems, including Dungeons & Dragons, Dungeon Crawl Classics, Call of Cthulhu, and many others. First-time players are not only welcome, but they’re also encouraged. Intro-friendly games will be clearly marked, and we work hard to ensure there’s space at the table for everyone who wants to play.

The Ettin remains a no-jerks-allowed event. We are committed to maintaining an inclusive, respectful environment where players of all backgrounds feel safe and welcome. Games use a movie-style rating system and content warnings. The convention is designed for attendees ages 13+, with options for younger players available through our Game Master sign-up process. LGBTQ+ players, GMs, and creators are explicitly welcome and celebrated here.

Three years in, The Ettin is still about the same thing it’s always been: good games, good people, and a shared love of storytelling. We’re excited to open the doors wider than ever and can’t wait to see you at the table.
