The characters journey beneath Faerûn to Sporedome, searching for a rare fungus said to prevent madness. Along the way, they face attacks from hostile fungi and encounter derro slavers, including a survivor whose journal reveals growing magical corruption and hints of demonic influence in the area. The adventurers also meet a community of mushroom-like creatures caught in a struggle against kidnapping and spreading corrupted spores. Their quest leads them to a sacred dell where the fungus grows, guarded by dangerous minions.
