Lion Rampant: England 1217 (Friday)
It's 1217 and King John is dead. Never popular, many of his Barons were in active rebellion at the time of his death. Now, the throne passes to the young King Henry III as English rebels seek to give the throne to Prince Louis, Crown Prince of France. Fortunately for the young King, his regent is the greatest knight who ever lived, Sir William the Marshal! Plant your feet firmly in your stirrups and grip your sword tight, these clashes could decide the future of England!
Returning for it's third year at the Richmond Open, 'Lion Rampant' is a game of skirmish level combat in the Medieval Era. Seeking to portray the "battles between the battles" scenarios take the forms of raids and ambushes rather than grand scale combat. Relatively easy to understand, the simple mechanics make the action fast and fun!
Unit options are flexible and special rules for things like shieldwalls and handgonnes mean 'Lion Rampant' can cover anything in history between the Fall of Rome and the War of the Roses.
Come give the system a taste! Armies, representing forces of the First Baron's War (1215-1217) will be available and all accessories needed to play the game will be on hand. All you need to bring is your grit, determination, and a willingness to roll some dice!
