Polar Vortex has once again arranged for a great Board Game Library which is volunteer owned and operated. There is no fee to play games from the library, simply select a game from the pile and sit down to play! Don’t have players? No problem! Join another game in progress by looking for the “Players Needed” sign. Or, grab a “Players Needed” sign and find an open table, and begin setting up. When you are finished, make sure all pieces are neatly returned to the box and place it back into the library. Staff will be available to answer any questions.

You’re invited to review Six games—released within 2018—with a play time of an hour or less and are recognized as fun to play. This fun competition can be found in the board game area within the Main Hall and all nominees are available to play all con long! After play, each player has the opportunity to cast their vote for Polar Vortex’s Most Fun Game of the Year. The winning game is announced Sunday afternoon at 4pm.
The nominees will not be part of our Play & Win event.

Polar Vortex is proud to support the community by offering a Paint-N-Take sponsored by The Army Painter.
Stop by our Paint-N-Take tables and try your hand at miniature painting. All materials are supplied and no experience is necessary. There will be instructional material provided and experienced painters will be on hand to offer suggestions.
Seating is limited so we are offering one hour sessions. Each day, a waiting list will be provided at the tables and you can sign up for any available one-hour slot that day, up to a maximum of 4 consecutive hours.
While this event is free, a donation jar is available for those that want karma!
So come over and create your masterpiece!
The premier event for Fair Game is our Board Game Demo Raffle! We have partnered with a handful of publishers to help convention attendees learn some of their newest games.
Throughout the entire weekend, we will have Fair Game representatives on hand to help set up and teach a variety of games from publishers like Renegade Game Studios, Asmodee, Days of Wonder, and more!
Convention goers who want to explore new and exciting board games are welcome to check out a game, grab a table, and start learning!
But that's not all!
For each game from our library that you demo, you will receive a raffle ticket you can use to win fantastic prizes! These prizes include games like the Pandemic 10th Anniversary Edition, the new release Gen7 from Plaid Hat Games, and more! There will be drawings for different prizes each day and any prizes not claimed during the convention will be available for pickup in store after the event.
No preregistration for this event is required.
Once again, we are proud to offer our Silent Charity Auction where all proceeds support the American Cancer Society.
Each item will have a minimum bid and may be increased in increments of $1 or more in whole dollar amounts. Simply add your name to the sheet, preferably printed, along with your bid. Good luck!
The Charity Auction will also see some enhancements for 2019.
While the majority of items will be open for bidding all three days, a select amount of items will be available each day as one day auctions. Winning bidders of these items may pick up at the designated time each day or any time during the con till 3pm Sunday.
All bids close at 3pm Sunday and winning bidders can begin picking up their items once payment has been processed. Payment must be made in cash or by checks made out to the American Cancer Society.
Gray Matters Games will be hosting free, on-demand games of their upcoming release, The Game of Wolf, on Friday and Saturday.
Each round, players face challenging trivia questions and can choose to either partner up with other players, or answer the questions as a 'Lone Wolf'. Joining forces gives teams a stronger chance of getting the most correct answers, and being a 'Lone Wolf' scores twice the points—which keeps you ahead of the pack!
Winners of each qualifying game are invited back at 5:15pm on Saturday for a tournament of epic proportions where we will crown the winner of the first Wolf World Champion! The champion will walk away with a huge trophy, a free copy of the game, and an amazing story.
