In the Building Bedrock course, students will learn the process for creating custom sculpted bases from concept, to sculpting and refining, to painting the finished base. The course will start with a short lecture portion; covering various topics including compositional elements, key concepts, and a breakdown of the processes for creating the bases. The majority of the course consists of hands-on demonstration starting with the rough sculpting with fresh putty, followed by the refinement of dried putty, and finishes with painting the base. Students will leave the class with a rough sculpted base to finish at home, as well as a refined/painted base of their own work from the class.

Students should bring rubber color shaper sculpting tools, hobby blades and handles, and paint brushes (including some older brushes to use in the sculpting phases as well as any they prefer to paint with). Some spare tools and brushes will be available for any students who do not currently have any of the listed tools.

Students are welcome to bring a specific mini that they want to make a base for. Students are also welcome to bring any other sculpting tools that they are comfortable with.
