D&D 5e (2014) - Agrivale: Tournament

Join your friends on a fun, fair-weather trek to the capital city of Agrivale to join the Governor's tournament. Designed to be enjoyed by all ages, and with the table's choice of level 3 or level 6 characters, with many combinations of race and class provided by the GM. Expect adventure, friendship, heartbreak, laughter, and maybe a little intrigue, if you know where to look. Players are encouraged to bring their own identities, but the GM will provide character sheets, pencils, dice, and all needed materials. The game is intended to be a one-shot, and the story will conclude during each session.

Agrivale encompasses a short narrative that includes some puzzles, combat, roleplay, humor, and political intrigue. What you experience will be up to the choices of the table.

For twenty years you’ve lived along the coast of the Rapallo Region, a series of small towns about half a days walk north of the large city of Agrivale. Some of you grew up here, some of you moved in as adults, all of you have toiled peacefully on your labors for many years.

Life in these small towns was humble but comfortable. The chief Governor of the Parliament and monarchy was Caccius Fishman, at the old age of 70, Because of his commercial fisherman background, he understood that the region’s peoples needed to eat, and never overly taxed or demanded more than the villages along the coast could give.

You and your friends are locked into a heated debate about the highest cliffs you’ve ever jumped into the sea. Enjoying your local tavern, it’s after sunset in Midale, a small town of about 50 families and 150 people. While arguing over the highest cliffs you’ve jumped, an agent of the Governor walks into the tavern, has a few words with the inn keep, and posts a message on the board. When the agent leaves, the message is read aloud by one of the other patrons of the tavern:

_To the honorable and the courageous:
The Governor of these lands has deigned a competition be set forth for the bravest souls to participate. In three days time from this notice, all parties of four should report to the Driads training facility outside of Agrivale. Bring your best, your brightest, and your quickest, for gold, renown, and honor are at stake.
