Having assembled their closest companions, nine tremendous teams will be diving into a weekend-long adventure in Board Wars 2022! They’ll test their mettle, stamina, and camaraderie as they develop and prototype a playable board game in just 48 short hours. This year the entire event will be taking place at Gem State Gaming Convention, and that’s where you come in. We’re calling on all interested GSGC attendees to aid our teams in their epic quest!

Board Wars 2022 is a collaboration between Gem State Gaming Convention, Phoenix Fire Games, Citizen Scientific Workshop, and Boise Public Library.

Saturday, 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Board Wars Playtesting – Gaming Hall (Room 100B)

As our teams develop their games, they’ll need your help making improvements. Join them to try out their games in an initial playtest and provide them with your valuable feedback.

Sunday, 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Board Wars Game Presentations – Gaming Hall (Room 100B)

After their weekend of furious fabrication and tormented tinkering our teams will finally be ready to share their creations with you, their soon-to-be adoring fans. Head to the Gaming Hall to hear each team’s 5-minute pitch for their game.

Sunday, 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Board Wars Playtesting & Judging – Gaming Hall (Room 100B)

This is your chance to see what all the hubbub has been about. The games are finished so it’s time to play…and to render JUDGEMENT! Join our teams to playtest the final version of their games, and score them on Creativity, Best Play, Best Accessibility, and Best Theme. Your decisions will determine who will walk away with the ultimate prize: Crowd Favorite. Visit the staff table to pick up your judging sheet.

Sunday, 5:30 p.m. – Board Wars Awards Ceremony – Gaming Hall (Room 100B)

This is the moment it’s all been building toward: The Ceremony of Awardening. After 48 grueling hours our intrepid inventors will finally find out to whom GLORY accrues. Join us as we crown our victors and celebrate all our fantastic competitors.
