Thank you for your interest in volunteering!
ChupacabraCon wouldn't exist without our volunteers. As an all-volunteer-run, nonprofit convention we are for the community and by the community.
If you would like to be a Chupa volunteer (and get into the convention for the deepest discount we can offer- practically free!) we request 8 volunteer hours during the convention. This is broken up into one and two-hour blocks so you can work your fun-having schedule around your volunteer hours.
We ask that you please read our code of conduct, review and sign our volunteer agreement prior to ordering a volunteer badge.
We have scheduled two orientation times via Google Meet several days before the convention:
Sunday, May 25th at 7pm
Tuesday, May 27th at 7pm
Instructions on how to join will be emailed to registered volunteers prior to the meeting.
If you cannot attend either event, please notify our volunteer coordinator at volunteers@chupacabracon.com.
During the orientation, we will review policies, procedures, and the basic functions of each position. Please note staff will be on-site with you during your volunteer shifts so you will not be required to memorize instructions. We will also have printed copies of instructions available for you.
1. Do you my volunteer hours need to be consecutive?
When you sign up for your preferred shifts you will note that our volunteer hours are scheduled in one and two-hour blocks. That said, you can spread your shifts throughout the convention so long as the total adds up to 8 hours.
2. Is any special knowledge or skill required to volunteer?
We prefer volunteers who are at least computer competent, can sit at a table for two hours in a row, and/or lift, push, or carry objects up to 50 lbs. If you require special accommodations please let our volunteer coordinator know by emailing volunteers@chupacabracon.com.
