Forty years ago, London was stolen by bats. It now rests on the shores of a vast underground ocean known as the Unterzee: Hell is close. Death is often little more than an inconvenience. Londoners rub elbows with men made of clay, intelligent rats, and be-tentacled squidfolk. The Masters tax love stores. Maps and street signs have been outlawed, and the spires of the Bazaar loom over all, covered in words of fire.
Your Concern's obsession to hunt down the greatest monsters of the Neath has been given an opportunity: The Ambitious Muse has access to a knife belonging to the infamous Jack of Smiles, and she will get it into your hands in exchange for locating her missing protégé, a poet by the name of Myles Remington. In a world where taking the illicit substance known as Prisoner's Honey can remove a person bodily into Parabola, it is not uncommon for practitioners to become "honey-mazed" and disappear for days on end into the realm of dreams. However, the Muse believes something more sinister is afoot, and time is running out. She needs you to find her missing poet quickly, and discreetly.

Fifteen years ago, Failbetter games launched the browser game Fallen London, introducing us to the rich, evocative world of the Neath. Their follow-up games Sunless Sea, Sunless Skies, and Mask of the Rose (available on Steam), further developed this universe. Now, Magpie Games (makers of Avatar: Legends and the Root RPG among others), are adapting this setting to a full TTRPG system. Having fully-funded the Kickstarter within 15 minutes of launching, they went on to make 2000% of their funding goal by the end of the campaign, with a release date of 2026.
