This is an online convention. We're ONLY meeting online. All times are in the US Central Time zone.

Play Games

Get a badge to play games. Social distancing will be a lot less boring with all the new friends you'll meet at Con of Champions. Please note that all times are listed in the US Central time zone.

We have a Discord server that will serve as a basic meeting infrastructure. But please check each event, as each event host is free to set up other means to play their game or attend their event.

Discord

Join our discord server here.

Run Games

We've already got a bunch of games up on the site, but we need more. Use Tabletopia, Tabletop Simulator, Roll 20, Fantasy Grounds, Skype, Zoom, Discord or any other online platform to run your favorite games. Submit games you want to run!

The Problem

Tabletop.Events is the software that runs hundreds of your favorite tabletop game conventions, and it is in trouble, and we need you to be our champions. The pandemic has shut down all conventions for the past month, and the near future, so that means all of our revenue has dried up. But what's worse is that all the canceled conventions meant that as we refunded our fees, our bank account was drained of all past profits as well.

We had announced that we were going to shut down on May 1, but our community has stated loudly and clearly that they do not want us to shut down and that we should run this crowdfunding campaign to help keep us going during the pandemic.

We were profitable and self-funding before the pandemic hit. We just couldn't have predicted that all conventions everywhere would suddenly come to a stop all at once.

The Solution and Our Pledge

Running with just a skeleton crew (a part-time support person to answer questions and a part-time programmer to fix bugs), plus keep all the servers alive costs about $7,000 per month. So for each $225 raised, that keeps TTE alive for 1 more day.

All money raised will go only toward keeping Tabletop.Events alive. If conventions start coming back by the end of 2020 then that means we'll need $56,000. If we don't get that much money then we'll stay alive for as much money as we do raise and also seek additional help via other means, but it will give us the time to seek that help. If we raise more money than we need, then we'll put that money toward features you have all been asking for, which will also help secure our future at the same time. None of that money will be considered profit, and none of it will go to the owners of Tabletop.Events.

How You Can Help

You can help in these ways:

  1. Buy a badge to this virtual convention
  2. Volunteer to run an event at this virtual convention
  3. Sponsor a perk for this virtual convention
  4. Promote this virtual convention to your followers

Buy a Badge

You can buy a badge to this convention. The proceeds go to keep Tabletop.Events funded during the pandemic so that other conventions can be managed via the platform, and so that we're still here when physical conventions start coming back.

We have badges ranging from $2 up to $7,000. Buy whatever you can afford, and feel free to buy more than one badge to set the pledge level you want. You'll not only get access to this virtual convention, but also gain 1 perk from one of our sponsors. The larger your pledge level the earlier you get to choose a perk and register for events.

Volunteer To Run An Event

We've set this up as a virtual convention so that everyone who contributes can have some fun at the same time, after all this is what we do best. If you want to run your favorite RPG or Board Game, you can! If you'd like to do a seminar, go for it! Anything you can do will help. You can submit your event here.

If you volunteer to events for this convention you'll get a free badge to this convention. Thank you for volunteering. You are still welcome to also purchase a badge if you would like to support the cause.

Sponsor a Perk

We've had lots of people offer perks to encourage more people to donate. We have a huge list of perks that you can peruse at your leisure.

If you'd like to sponsor a perk, post it here.

Promote This Virtual Convention

If each of the users of Tabletop.Events were to contribute $1, we'd cover our expenses for the remainder of the year without a problem. So please reach out to your extensive networks and see how many might be willing to do even a small pledge. They can really add up!

FAQ

What time zone are all the events being hosted in?

US Central time.

How much money will we need?

$225 per day, or $7,000 per month, or $56,000 to get us to the end of 2020. Since we don't know what the resolution to the pandemic is, we don't know beyond that. What we do know is that if we have more time we can work on other ways of shoring ourselves up for whatever comes next.

What will you do with the extra cash if you raise more than you end up needing?

Our current plan is to put it toward features that people have been asking for. If you have a better idea, please let us know.

What do I get if I support TTE?

You get to register for and play in some of the events we will have. You get a Champion badge added to your user profile on this site. And you get to select 1 perk from a huge list of perks provided by our sponsors.

Why are you doing a crowdfunding campaign here rather than on Kickstarter or Go Fund Me?

Everyone who cares about TTE already has an account here. And by doing it here the 5% that would go to Kickstarter or Go Fund Me goes to us, so we have to raise less.
